Hey Reader,

Everyone's talking about upskilling with AI. And yes - it matters, it's happening, I help people upskill with AI!

But I can't stop thinking about the other side of it.

Before AI, good work required genuine struggle. To write a strong essay, a strategy doc, a presentation - you had to think, research, synthesise, revise. Several times over. The output reflected the process. And the process was where the learning happened.

Now AI can generate the same polished output in seconds. The writing sounds smart. The strategy feels solid. The deck looks professional.

But underneath... the critical thinking, the reasoning, the problem-solving, those skills are shrinking. Because we're no longer using our brains to build them.

I notice this in myself. I reach for ChatGPT / Claude before I've fully thought something through. Because it's faster and easier.

And that has started to worry me.

In a world where everyone can generate amazingly polished output, how do we distinguish between those who are actually capable and those who just look it?

Does it even matter?

And how do we use AI consciously - without losing the very skills that make us good at what we do?

I don't have a neat answer. But I think it's a conversation we need to be having.

Are you feeling this too?

Hit reply and tell me what you think.
