You may have seen people talking about Fable 5 over the last few days and wondered - what is it actually(?

Fable 5 is Claude’s newest and most capable AI model, built to handle more complex thinking, deeper analysis and detailed problem-solving.

In simple terms, it is designed to look more closely at information, spot patterns and gaps, and work through complicated tasks more thoroughly than a standard AI model.

And because access has been extended until tomorrow, I have been fumbling around trying to make good use of it before we lose it!

(Everyone on Claude’s paid $20/month subscription currently has access until 12 July 2026)

Here are two things I have done to avoid ongoing FOMO - in case you want to try it too:

1. I asked Fable 5 to audit my entire Claude set-up

This included my instructions, Skills and Projects, and honestly, it was pretty brilliant.

It found discrepancies between my Skills, highlighted gaps and outdated instructions, and then helped me fix them based on my personal and business goals.

This was far more useful than asking it to build something completely new, because it strengthened the AI systems I am already using in my business.

2. I found a genius thread on X that showed me how to transport Fable 5's brain into Claude's Opus 4.8 model.

The thread shows you how to create an operating manual based on Fable 5’s approach to analysing and solving problems, which you can then layer into Opus 4.8.

You use the prompt in Fable 5, and what you get back is a Skill file based on its way of thinking, which you can then use with another model without the same ongoing cost.

My biggest takeaway?

When a new AI model comes out, you do not need to rush to build something complicated with it.

And you do not need to try every new tool just because everyone else is talking about it.

The point of using AI is to help you do something better, faster or differently, or to help you solve a problem you are already struggling with.

So instead of asking:

“What should I build with this?”

Ask:

“What am I already trying to improve, and could this model help me do it better?”

Or:

“Where am I stuck, and could this tool help?”

You do not need more AI tools.

You need better ways to use AI to solve the problems that already matter to you.
