It’s been a really long time since I wrote something with zero AI involvement. As a writer by heart and profession, and someone who also teaches women how to write with AI, I never thought there would come a time when I would feel vulnerable to post something written without any AI use 😳 My latest Substack post is just that 😱 No bouncing an outline off my trained GPT in ChatGPT, or getting a Claude Skill to edit it, or working with a proven newsletter prompt “template” that has a high chance of “performing” better. I opened a Google doc, just wrote it, and hit publish. It took me 26 minutes. I felt compelled to write it this way because 100% human thought is starting to disappear. And that horrifies me. The human mind is brilliant, what are we doing to it? I really don’t want to read any AI generated opinions anymore and I certainly do not want to lose my ability to write or think. My mind is wonderful, I am a good writer, and i want to keep it that way! Jordan Wilson of the Your Everyday AI podcast lists this ‘deskilling’ of sorts under one of his “7 sins of using AI the right way”. The only way to save us from unwantingly ‘deskilling’ , is to do things from scratch without using AI, whenever possible. And whilst that means I need to spend more time thinking and writing, and not just ‘getting it done’ with AI - it’s probably the most important thing we can do for ourselves and whoever chooses to read what we write. What that means exactly, for my business and my own journey with AI, is yet to be determined - but I hope you stick with me here! If this resonated with you, read my 100% human written post here. |
